California’s prison sentencing laws are some of the toughest in the nation. They have led to massive overcrowding in the state’s 33 prisons. Today we look back on how “three strikes” became law in California more than 15 years ago, the role politics has played, and the adverse effect it’s had on one San Diego family.

Philosophy of Teaching Statement: My teaching philosophies, as well as instructional teaching style, incorporate two forms of instruction i.e., Socratic or dialectic method and Kolb’s Learning Styles.
The Socratic or dialectic method style of instruction in pedagogy involves the instructor asking questions to solicit a response from the student.

Student Question: “So I am still a little confused on the discussion posts. Are we responding to the original class assigned post or are we responding to your personal post or both or either? It seems everyone did different things”.
Instructor Response: Both. I expect students to respond to the assigned weekly questions and to the additional questions I may ask.
